Courtside Paddle Holders

So what are these?

Paddle holders are attached to the fence near all of the courts. There is a set of paddle holders for each pair of courts, ie - 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8, 9&10 and 11&12. They are used to group people together to play on the next available court in that court pair during open play. In this way, you get to play with and get to know other players in the club. The paddle holders hold 2 groups of 4 paddles. There is also a pointer that indicates which group is the next one in when a court becomes available. There are some simple etiquette rules that we ask everyone to follow.

  • If you are ready to play, put your paddle in the next available holder position, do not skip positions! Putting your paddles as shown in the middle picture on the left is a no-no. The paddles on the right should be placed in the two empty positions on the left as those are the next available spaces. In the bottom picture, the one paddle is in the correct position. Other people wishing to play would place their paddle in that group.

  • If you want to wait for specific people to play with - you must wait until you have four players AND all groups ahead must have filled and/or gone onto a court before putting your paddles up.

  • When a court is available in the court group the holder is in and your group is next up, remember to advance the pointer to the next group!

  • If there is an empty court in another court group AND there are no paddles up for that group, you can play on that court, otherwise the players with paddles in the holder have priority and you need to mix with them.
