East CourtS Project
The 8 East Courts were constructed in the summer and fall of 2016. Several years of negotiations with Craig Ahlstrom, President of Farnsworth Development, resulted in an agreement on location and funding. If the Pickleball Club would contribute $110,000 to the project, 8 courts would be built across the street from the existing 4 West courts. Other areas considered were under the power lines south of our community and in the area of the Golf Clubhouse.
Contributions from the SSV Tennis Club and SSV Softball Club assisted the Pickleball Club in reaching our goal. The Club initiated Lifetime Memberships at $250 and a donation program which recognized several levels of donations. As a group, six Pickleball families agreed to match other members donations up to a total of $20,000. A bronze plaque mounted on the East Court storage/kitchen building was used to recognize the donors and lifetime members who contributed to this effort. SSV Bingo donated funds to purchase the bleachers and picnic tables at the courts. Members also donated a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and other kitchen items for our new kitchen and storage area. The club wishes to acknowledge the support and assistance provided by Craig and his staff in achieving this milestone.
